intensity mapping surveys

There are quite a number of intensity mapping surveys , i.e.,
surveys carrying out intensity mapping
(aka line intensity mapping , LIM ).
They search for lines associated with star formation
and associated galaxies , through emission lines
produced by the galaxies or through absorption lines
imprinted on electromagnetic radiation from further back.
Among the lines mapped:
These wavelengths are mapped in the study
of the Milky Way , but the term intensity mapping
is typically used for surveys of cosmological interest,
of these lines at various redshifts .
