intensity mapping surveys

(intensity mapping experiments, line intensity mapping surveys)
(efforts mapping the intensity of spectral lines across the sky)

There are quite a number of intensity mapping surveys, i.e., surveys carrying out intensity mapping (aka line intensity mapping, LIM). They search for lines associated with star formation and associated galaxies, through emission lines produced by the galaxies or through absorption lines imprinted on electromagnetic radiation from further back. Among the lines mapped:

21-cm line21 cm
H-alpha656.5 nm
H-beta486.1 nm
Lyman alpha121.6 nm
[CII]158 μm
CO ladder lines2.6 mm, 1.3 mm, 0.87 mm, 0.65 mm, 0.52 mm
oxygen lines: [O II], [O III]372.7 nm, 500.7 nm

These wavelengths are mapped in the study of the Milky Way, but the term intensity mapping is typically used for surveys of cosmological interest, of these lines at various redshifts. Among the surveys:
