(Carbon CII Line in Post-Reionization and Reionization Epoch)
(spectrometer aimed at mapping the [CII] line)

CONCERTO (loosely for Carbon CII Line in Post-Reionization and Reionization Epoch) is a proposal to deploy a spectrometer aimed at an intensity mapping of the redshifted ionized carbon forbidden line [CII] in the epoch of reionization and as an indication of star formation. The plan is to deploy it on the Atacama Pathfinder Experiment (APEX). The spectral line is in the submillimeter range, and the planned instrument disperses wavelengths with an a Martin-Puplett interferometer (type of adjustable Michelson interferometer) and senses with KIDs, achieving a spectral resolution of 1.5 GHz and an angular resolution of 21 arcseconds.

A related effort is KISS (for KID Interferometer Spectrometer Surveyor) with an analogous instrument for a lower frequency range, aiming to map Sunyaev-Zel'dovich effects.
