GOODS-South

GOODS-South is the southern-hemisphere survey field of the Great Observatories Origins Deep Survey (GOODS), which is 10×16 arcmin, on the order of 1/20 square degree, centered on the Chandra Deep Field South. Several space telescopes surveyed it as part of GOODS, and it has been used for numerous subsequent surveys. Repeated surveying of such fields using different instruments (or different instrument-settings) is a common practice: doing so gathers additional data on the astronomical objects within the field
