BINGO

(Baryon Acoustic Oscillations in Neutral Gas Observations)
(future radio telescope for mapping distant neutral hydrogen)

BINGO (for Baryon Acoustic Oscillations in Neutral Gas Observations) is a radio telescope under construction in Brazil to detect baryon acoustic oscillations (BAOs) through intensity mapping of the 21-cm line to produce a three-dimensional map of neutral atomic hydrogen out to z ≈ 0.5. It is also expected to detect fast radio bursts (FRBs). It is a transit telescope with 40-meter non-moving reflectors configured as a cross Dragone telescope, focusing on a 50-feedhorn array. It will cover a 15-degree declination strip of the celestial sphere. It will acquire sufficient integration time for the target signal-to-noise ratio through its daily repeated observations.
