Barnard's Star (GJ 699 ) is a low-mass
red dwarf about 6 light-years away.
It is the 4th closest known star
after the three stars of
Alpha Centauri .
Characteristics:
An extra-solar planet (GJ 699 b ) has been announced as
confirmed in 2024, discovered through the radial velocity method ,
and three additional exoplanets were confirmed in 2025.
These do not match an earlier candidate that
was announced in 2018.
