X-SHOOTER Lyman α survey at z = 2
(XLS-z2, X-SHOOTER Lyman α survey)
(survey of Lyman-α sources)
The X-SHOOTER Lyman α survey at z = 2 is
a astronomical survey performing spectrography on selected
Lyman-alpha emitters (LAEs, galaxies emitting Lyman alpha),
aiming to discover Lyman continuum leakers, based upon the premise that
LAEs are candidates. It uses the X-Shooter spectrograph on
the European Southern Observatory Very Large Telescope (ESO VLT).
Some of the targets are from the
earlier CALYMHA (Calibrating Lyman-α with Hα)
survey carried out on the Isaac Newton Telescope (INT).
