Isaac Newton Telescope

The Isaac Newton Telescope (INT) is a 2.54-m reflector telescope at the Roque de los Muchachos Observatory (ORM) in the Canary Islands. It is one of the Isaac Newton Group of Telescopes (ING), which also includes the William Herschel Telescope (WHT). INT was rebuilt at ORM in 1984 after earlier operation in England that began in 1967. INT is currently not carrying out observation, currently dedicated to the commissioning of the new a high resolution spectrograph, HARPS3, for the Terra Hunting Experiment. As of 2/2026, the telescope has been prepared (automation installed) and HARPS3 has been installed and is currently undergoing commissioning. Plans are to resume scientific observation in summer 2026. Among INT's other instruments:
