MERLIN
(Multi Element Radio Linked Interferometer)
(VLBI array spread across England)
MERLIN (for Multi Element Radio Linked Interferometer)
is a radio interferometer array consisting
of seven radio telescopes across England, operated from
Jodrell Bank Observatory (JBO), among them
the Lovell Telescope and Mark II.
MERLIN was a 1990s successor (or upgrade) to a similar 1970s/1980s
effort called MTRLI (for Multi-Telescope Radio Linked Interferometer).
With a circa 2015 upgrade, MERLIN is now
called e-MERLIN for Enhanced MERLIN.
