ejection

The term ejection is commonly used in astrophysics, including:

• coronal mass ejection - a massive burst of solar wind.
• jets, e.g., ejection of mass from protostars, galaxies, etc.
• ejection of mass from mergers such as neutron star mergers.
• ejection of mass from explosions such as supernovae.
• ejection of a body or bodies from an orbit, e.g., through an interaction with an additional body.

The term is also common throughout science for the ejection of an electron during ionization, and for the ejection of subatomic particles during nuclear phenomena such as radioactive decay, fusion, and fission.
