(string of mass ejected by a tidal forces in a neutron star merger)
The term tidal tail is used to refer to a type of mass ejection
from a neutron star in a compact object merger.
The term tidal tail is also used for an unrelated phenomena:
for a string of stars extracted from a galaxy during a close

(the effects of galactic tide).
