Wind
(Interplanetary Physics Laboratory)
(spacecraft measuring solar wind)
Wind (an earlier name was Interplanetary Physics Laboratory)
is a spacecraft launched by NASA
to observe the solar wind.
It was launched in 1994, began its operation in an eccentric
Earth orbit, was moved to the L1 Lagrangian point in 2004,
and operates with enough fuel to continue into the 2070s.
Instruments:
KONUS was developed by Russia and analogous instruments named KONUS
were used on other Russian missions.
