TIMED
(Thermosphere Ionosphere Mesosphere Energetics and Dynamics)
(space probe observing Earth upper atmosphere for solar effects)
TIMED (for Thermosphere Ionosphere Mesosphere Energetics and Dynamics)
is a satellite to study the effect of Solar electromagnetic-radiation and
solar wind on the Earth's upper atmosphere.
It was launched in 2001 and has remained in operation,
collecting two 11-year solar cycle's worth of data so far.
