SOAR Telescope

The SOAR Telescope (Southern Astrophysical Research Telescope, the telescope often referred to simply as SOAR) is a 4.1 meter reflector telescope at Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory, Chile which began operation in 2005/2006. Visible light instruments:

• SOI - SOAR Optical Imager.
• SAM - SOAR Adaptive optics Module.
• HRCam - SOAR High Resolution Camera.
• Goodman HTS - Goodman High Throughput Spectrograph.
• SAM-FP - Fabry-Pérot Module for SAM.
• SIFS (aka SIFUS) - SOAR Integral Field Spectrograph.

Infrared instruments:

• SPARTAN - Near-IR Camera.
• ARCoIRIS aka TripleSpec 4.1 - near infrared spectrograph.

Former:

• OSIRIS - Ohio State Infrared Imager/Spectrograph.
