(Minor Planet)
(an asteroid or physically similar body)

The term Planetoid is generally used to mean a Minor Planet, i.e., a solar system body not a Moon or (major) planet, or a Comet and larger than a Meteoroid. It serves as an alternative to the term Asteroid, specifically implying a generalization to include bodies outside the Asteroid Belt.

The term may be more commonly used in the abstract: in discussions of Planet Formation, of likely similar objects orbiting other stars (harder to detect for being smaller) or in the past, such as a solar system body theorized to have broken up long ago.
