New Technology Telescope
(NTT)
(3.58-meter reflector telescope in Chile)
The New Technology Telescope (NTT) is a European Southern Observatory (ESO)
3.58-meter reflector telescope residing at the
La Silla Observatory (LSO) in Chile. It has been in operation
since 1989 and was an early telescope using adaptive optics (AO).
Instruments:
- SOXS ("Son of X-Shooter"), modeled after the ESO VLT, X-Shooter (SOXS saw first light in 2025).
- EFOSC2 "ESO Faint Object Spectrograph and Camera v.2" - optical camera and low resolution spectrograph.
- ULTRACAM - ultra-fast camera.
