N 103B
(LHA 120-N 103B)
(supernova remnant in the LMC)
N 103B (LHA 120-N 103B) is a supernova remnant in the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC),
considered likely the remnant of a Type Ia supernova.
It located is on the edge of a HII region and not far from
a stellar cluster of young stars.
It is presumed to be less than 2000 years old, based upon its
small size and other analysis.
The name N 103B stems from a 1956 catalog
of Lyman alpha sources in the Magellanic Clouds,
"N" indicating a nebula.
The remnant has since shown in numerous radio and X-ray
surveys.
