acetylene
(C2H2, ethyne)
(compound of two carbon and two hydrogen atoms)
Acetylene (C2H2 or ethyne) is
a hydrocarbon compound of two carbon and two hydrogen atoms.
The carbon atoms are between, the two joined by a triple bond,
i.e., H-C≡C-H.
At Earth atmospheric pressure and temperature, it
is a gas. It is fairly common in the universe,
and often in the atmosphere of gas giants.
