FIRSST
(Far Infrared Spectroscopy Space Telescope)
(plan for a future far-infrared space telescope)
FIRSST (for Far Infrared Spectroscopy Space Telescope)
is a plan for a future NASA 1.8-m far infrared space telescope.
It would be cooled to 4.5 K.
Planned instruments:
In October 2024, NASA selected a competing far-infrared
space-observatory plan, PRIMA,
from a number of proposed NASA Explorer missions,
for further study; this selection makes the FIRSST plan
unlikely to be carried out.
