FACT (for First G-APD Cherenkov Telescope) is an imaging atmospheric Cherenkov telescope (IACT) located at Roque de los Muchachos Observatory (ORM). It detects Cherenkov radiation in the atmosphere generated by relativistic particles produced by the interaction of incoming high-energy gamma-ray photons interacting with atmospheric molecules, then processes the collected data to produce images. It makes use of Geiger-avalanche photodiode (G-APD) sensors.
