ARGOS

(Advanced Research and Global Observation Satellite) (1999 technology-research satellite)

ARGOS (for Advanced Research and Global Observation Satellite) was a 1999-2003 US space mission aimed at testing technologies, and studying the upper atmosphere for the purposes of future technologies. It included some X-ray binary observations of astrophysical value, having the aim of investigating their use for future space navigation. Instruments/experiments:

CERTO - Coherent Electromagnetic Radio Tomography Experiment.
CIV - Critical Ionization Velocity Experiment.
ESEX - Electric Propulsion Space Experiment.
EUVIP - Extreme Ultraviolet Imaging Photometer Experiment.
GIMI - Global Imaging Monitor of the Ionosphere Experiment.
HIRAAS - High Resolution Airglow/Aurora Spectrograph Experiment.
HTSSE II - High Temperature Superconductivity Space Experiment.
SPADUS - Space Dust Experiment.
USA - Unconventional Stellar Aspect (X-ray binary investigation).
