The abbreviation W has been used for a survey described by Gart Westerhout in 1958, of 82 1390MHz radio sources in the Milky Way-region of the celestial sphere, performed on the Dwingaloo Radio Observatory. Sources included nebulae and some galaxies in that region of the sky.
