(nearby large galaxy cluster)
The Virgo Cluster is a nearby large galaxy cluster,
at the heart of the Virgo Supercluster.
As such, it includes a number of galaxies known for a long
time, e.g., in the Messier Catalog,
such as M87.
It comprises 1300 to 2000 member galaxies.
The Milky Way is not within it but rather in the
Local Group, a group smaller
than what's generally considered a galaxy cluster.
