Venus Express

(Venus probe launched by ESA in 2005)

The Venus Express was a European Space Agency (ESA) Venus probe launched in 2005 and entering Venus orbit in 2006. After a primary mission of two years, it continued operation into 2014. All contact was lost in early 2015 and it is presumed to have eventually been destroyed, falling into Venus's atmosphere. Instruments:

ASPERA-4 "Analyzer of Space Plasmas and Energetic Atoms".
MAG - magnetometer.
VMC "Venus Monitoring Camera".
PFS "Planetary Fourier Spectrometer".
SPICAV "Spectroscopy for Investigation of Characteristics of the Atmosphere of Venus".
VIRTIS "Visible and Infrared Thermal Imaging Spectrometer".
VeRa "Venus Radio Science".
