(UKIRT)
(Mauna Kea 3.8 meter infrared telescope)

The United Kingdom Infrared Telescope (UKIRT) is a 3.8 meter infrared telescope in Mauna Kea, Hawaii, in operation since 1979. Its name reflects its developer and early owner, the United Kingdom Science and Technology Facilities Council, but in 2014 it was turned over to the University of Hawaii, and has been funded in part by NASA and the USNO. It is slated for decommissioning once the Thirty Meter Telescope (TMT) is completed. Instruments:
