(UARS) (1990s spacecraft to observe Earth ozone layer)

The Upper Atmosphere Research Satellite (UARS) was a NASA satellite launched in 1991 and operational until 2005 to observe Earth's upper atmosphere including the ozone layer. Instruments:

CLAES - Cryogenic Limb Array Etalon Spectrometer.
ISAMS - Improved Stratospheric and Mesospheric Sounder.
MLS - Microwave Limb Sounder.
HALOE - Halogen Occultation Experiment.
HRDI - High Resolution Doppler Imager.
WINDII - Wind Imaging Interferometer.
SUSIM - Solar Ultraviolet Spectral Irradiance Monitor.
SOLSTICE - Solar Stellar Irradiance Comparison Experiment.
ACRIM2 - Active Cavity Radiometer Irradiance Monitor II.

The satellite re-entered Earth atmosphere in 2011.
