TRAPPIST-1 (2MASS J23062928-0502285) is a nearby red dwarf with seven known orbiting extra-solar planets, ranging from about 1/3 Earth mass to just above Earth mass, with possibly as many as six of them within the star's presumed habitable zone, which has encouraged much interest. They were discovered by a TRAPPIST telescope, which explains its designation. Stellar characteristics:
