POEMMA

(Probe of Extreme Multi-Messenger Astrophysics)
(planned space cosmic-ray neutrino observatory)

POEMMA (for Probe of Extreme Multi-Messenger Astrophysics) is a NASA mission concept for observation of ultra-high energy cosmic rays (UHECRs) and energetic neutrinos by viewing the Earth atmosphere from space. The plan has two identical satellites observing resulting Cherenkov radiation and air showers, each with a 4-meter Schmidt telescope, which would be used in together to determine the location of the particle's trajectory. The satellites are to look down toward Earth atmosphere, and the two telescopes' large field of view (45° width), thus using a large collecting area for detection. Its neutrino observation is detection of air showers headed upward from Earth, stemming from tau neutrinos passing through a portion of the Earth. Instruments (on each satellite):

A similar plan is Orbiting Wide-angle Light Collectors (OWL), apparently the name used for an early study.
