Perseus Cluster
(Abell 426)
(large galaxy cluster in the Perseus-Pisces Supercluster)
The Perseus Cluster is a massive galaxy cluster,
a member of the Perseus-Pisces Supercluster.
It contains over a thousand galaxies.
It is a very bright X-ray source, making it useful for study of its
intergalactic medium (IGM): the IGM temperature producing the X-rays is
apparently due to activity of the central cD galaxy,
NGC 1275.
