panchromatic

(involving all colors, i.e., all wavelengths)

The word panchromatic, which basically means "all colors". In research astronomy, the term is often used metaphorically to indicate observations covering a number of types of EMR (rather than merely all the visible light wavelengths). For example, an astronomical survey labeled panchromatic might consist of a number of coordinated surveys in radio, infrared, visible light, ultraviolet, X-rays, and gamma rays, all of the same survey field. An example of such a survey is Cosmic Evolution Survey (COSMOS).
