MOST
(Molonglo Observatory Synthesis Telescope)
(radio telescope in New South Wales)
MOST (Molonglo Observatory Synthesis Telescope) is
a radio telescope just east of Canberra in New South Wales, Australia.
It is a c1980 rebuilding of the 1960s Molonglo Cross Telescope,
which was cross-shaped, with north-south and east-west arms.
MOST reconfigured that into twin 778 m east-west
cylindrical telescopes, 15 m separated.
More recently, MOST has undergone two substantial upgrades, termed
UTMOST and UTMOST-2D (which went back to a cross-shaped form),
now targeting radio transients, such as fast radio bursts (FRBs) and pulsars.
Among the surveys carried out on MOST is SUMSS, the
Sydney University Molonglo Sky Survey.
