(Monitor of All-sky X-ray Image)
(Japanese X-ray camera on the International Space Station)

MAXI (for Monitor of All-sky X-ray Image) is a Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) X-ray camera on the International Space Station (ISS), searching for X-ray sources and transients, monitoring the sky every 96 minutes. It went into operation (first light) in 2009. A planned follow-on, iWF-MAXI for iSEEP Wide-Field MAXI is to have a wider field of view.
