Luyten Half-second Catalog

(LHS)
(1979 catalog of 4000 stars with high proper motion)

The Luyten Half-second Catalog (LHS) is a catalog of about 4000 stars with a proper motion greater than half a second per year, last published in 1979 by Willem Jacob Luyten. It was produced from the Palomar Observatory Sky Survey (POSS) and other plates. The LHS is a successor to Luyten's 1955 Luyten Five Tenths Catalog, but the identification numbers are not compatible. The Revised Luyten Half-second Catalog is a 2002 catalog of the same set of stars, updating and correcting the data, such as including J2000 coordinates.
