jellyfish galaxy
(galaxy with a gas tail including star formation)
The term jellyfish galaxy indicates a galaxy with a long tail
of gas, presumably forced out of the galaxy by ram pressure,
the tail including star formation. The name derives from
similarities of its appearance to sea animals known as jellyfish
that are often blob-shaped with a long tail-like appendage.
