Infrared Telescope Maffei

(ITM, IRAIT, International Robotic Antarctic Infrared Telescope, Italian Robotic Antarctic Infrared Telescope)
(80 cm infrared telescope in Antarctica)

Infrared Telescope Maffei (ITM) is an 80 cm robotic infrared telescope located on Concordia Station on Dome C in Antarctica, a gently-rounded hill with elevation 10,607 feet (3,233 meters) located on the Antarctic plateau. The location has excellent seeing in the infrared, with dry air, few clouds, low temperature reducing the atmosphere's infrared black-body radiation, and little dust or light pollution. The telescope went into operation in 2013. Instruments:

An earlier, pilot 25 cm telescope, Small IRAIT, was deployed at the site in 2007.
