The Bright Star Catalog (or
Yale Catalogue of Bright Stars or Yale Bright Star Catalogue,
abbreviated BS or YBS, with entries cited as HR)
is an astronomical catalog of 9000 stars.
It began as the Harvard Revised Photometry Catalog
(thus the designation string "HR") in the early 20th century,
and was repeatedly enhanced over the course of the century.
