The Güdel-Benz relation is between a star's radio and X-ray luminosity, stating that the log of the radio luminosities and log of the maximum X-ray luminosities and show a linear relationship. This is ascribed to a close relation between the stellar activity that produces radio and the amount of plasma in the corona where the activity occurs. The relation can be used to assist in discovering promising targets for one kind of observation from the results of surveys of the other.
