GRAPES-3 (for Gamma Ray Astronomy PeV Energies phase-3) is a Cherenkov detector at Ooty, India (not far from the Ooty Radio Telescope) to detect the air showers of cosmic rays through the resulting Cherenkov radiation and also through muons, the latter giving it the ability to detect particles over a wider range of kinetic energies. It is the latest of a series of Cherenkov detectors operated by the Cosmic Ray Laboratory (CRL) at Ooty.
