DAVINCI

DAVINCI (for Deep Atmosphere Venus Investigation of Noble gases, Chemistry, and Imaging) is a NASA Venus space mission currently in development for a 2030 or 2031 launch as a Discovery Program mission. It will carry out at least one Venus flyby for a gravity assist, after which it is to enter Venus orbit in 2032 or 2033. It is to include an orbiter along with a probe that will descend through the atmosphere. The orbiter is to carry cameras capable of ultraviolet and near infrared imaging. Planned descent-probe instruments:

• VMS - Venus Mass Spectrometer.
• VTLS - Venus Tunable Laser Spectrometer.
• VASI - Venus Atmospheric Structure Investigation (measuring temperature, pressure, and wind).
• VenDI - Venus Descent Imager.

The name DAVINCI+ was initially used for one iteration of its proposal, to distinguish it from the first proposal.
