The Big Bear Solar Observatory (BBSO) is a solar observatory near San Bernadino, California, which hosts the 1.5-m Goode Solar Telescope (GST, formerly the New Solar Telescope, NST) which went into operation in 2009. Among GST's instruments:
In development is WHISPER "Wide-band High-resolution Imaging Spectro-Polarimetric Explorer". Among GST's adaptive optics systems have been CAO, MCAO (Clear), and AO-308.
The observatory, which began operation in 1969-1970, has hosted some smaller telescopes as well, including GST's predecessor, a 0.6-m solar telescope.
