Air-SPEC

(Airborne Infrared Spectrometer)
(a spectrometer used to view the corona during eclipses)

Air-SPEC (for Airborne Infrared Spectrometer) is an instrument developed by the SAO for observing the solar corona during total solar eclipses from an aircraft. It observed during the 2017 and 2019 eclipses. An improved follow-on, ACES (for Airborne Coronal Emission Surveyor) was used during the 2024 eclipse.
