AFGL Four Color Infrared Sky Survey

(AFGL)
(1970s infrared survey)

The AFGL Four Color Infrared Sky Survey was a sounding-rocket-based astronomical survey of infrared sources carried out in the early 1970s using nine sub-orbital rocket missions, by the AFGL (Air Force Geophysics Laboratory). It constituted a pioneering infrared sky survey. A 1980s revision of the catalog using additional observations is indicated by the designator RAFGL (Revised AFGL).
