Magnetic dipole radiation is electromagnetic radiation (EMR) generated when a magnetized object is spun with its rotation axis oblique to the magnetic field that the object is generating, in which case the magnetic field shifts the direction of its poles with the rotation. The magnetic field at any point in space is constantly changing, thus generating an electric field the two of which form electromagnetism waves. It can be generated artificially and is also found in nature. It is generated at the atomic level within magnetic fields, and is regularly produced within the solar corona, offering clues to the state of the magnetic field. It is also considered the means by which pulsars produce their "searchlight" beams of radio waves. The energy to create this radiation is from the rotation of the pulsar, which consequently slows down over time.
