VLASS

(Very Large Array Sky Survey)
(ongoing all-sky radio survey)

VLASS (for Very Large Array Sky Survey) is a radio astronomical survey by the Very Large Array (VLA), begun in 2017 with plans for a seven-year survey of 80% of the sky, expecting to image 5 million radio sources. This survey has the advantages of VLA upgrades installed since the VLA's previous all-sky survey, the 1990s NRAO VLA Sky Survey (NVSS). The new survey's angular resolution is 2.5 arcsecond, and the frequency range is 2 to 4 GHz, and includes polarimetry. The sky will be observed three times at 32 month intervals. Data has been released for the first two rounds of observations and the third is in progress.
