TolTEC
(sensitive infrared camera under construction for the LMT)
TolTEC is an a microwave camera under construction for
the Large Millimeter Telescope (LMT). It will simultaneously image in three bands
(150 GHz, 220 GHz, 280 GHz)
using 7,000 KID detectors. It is designed for high-speed surveying.
Its development and deployment is a NSF AST MSIP project,
and to fulfill a condition, four surveys
will be carried out and their data made public:
TolTEC saw first light in 2022, and underwent initial testing
and adjustment into 2023, some of that time available for at-risk
use. LMT itself suffered an outage in August 2023, with expected
resumption in January 2024, but as of February 2024, I'm not sure
if that has occurred.
