Swift (or Neil Gehrels Swift Observatory, previously the Swift Gamma-ray Burst Mission) is a NASA Medium-class Explorer Program (MIDEX) space observatory specifically for detecting gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) and their afterglow. Swift was launched in 2004 for a 2-year primary mission, a goal of 5 years' operation, and is still operating in 2024. Its goal was detection of roughly a 100 bursts per year. Instruments:
