sublimation
(single material phase transition from solid to gas)
Sublimation is the phase transition of a solid
into a gas without becoming a liquid in between.
Water can sublimate at low pressure and carbon dioxide
sublimates at Earth atmosphere pressure.
Dust particles in a circumstellar disk sublimate
if they move sufficiently close to the star,
e.g., from the Poynting-Robertson effect.
