STROBE-X
(for Spectroscopic Time-Resolving Observatory for Broadband X-rays)
is a plan for a NASA space X-ray observatory.
NASA has yet to commit to the plan, expecting a 2025 decision.
A 2018 version of the plan proposed a 2031 launch.
Instruments:
- XRCA - X-ray concentrator array (an improved follow-on to NICER, 0.2-12 keV, with an FOV on the order of arcminutes).
- LAD - large area detector (2-30 keV with an FOV of about a degree).
- WFM - wide field monitor (2-50 keV, watches 1/3 of the sky with ~arcminute localization).
