(1980s/1990s redshift survey of southern galaxies)

The Southern Sky Redshift Survey (SSRS) was a redshift survey of galaxies. The initial 1988 version determined redshifts of 2028 galaxies selected from the ESO/Uppsala Survey of the ESO (B) Atlas. Subsequent updates into 1998 (SSRS2) brought the total to 5369 galaxies, incorporating galaxies from of additional sources, in particular, galaxies found in the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) Guide Star Catalog (GSC),
