(survey to study minor planets)

SPACEWATCH is an astronomical survey begun in 1980 to study minor planets, asteroids, comets, etc. Among telescopes used are the Mayall 4m Telescope, and dedicated telescopes at Kitt Peak National Observatory, a 0.9 meter telescope and a 1.8 meter telescope. It has made many discoveries including some moons, transients as well as minor planets.

Note that the word Spacewatch has been used in the names of other unrelated efforts such as a corporation and a digital magazine.
