Simons Array
(telescope array to map CMB polarization)
The Simons Array is essentially an upgrade to POLARBEAR,
consisting of its (single) 3.5-meter Huan Tran Telescope (HTT)
and two additional 3.5-meter telescopes, their three instruments
collectively termed POLARBEAR-2 (POLARBEAR-2a, -2b, and -2c on the
three telescopes), observing in additional spectral bands. The
goal is to collect more data regarding CMB polarization. It
is located on the Atacama Desert, adjacent to the Atacama Cosmology Telescope (ACT) and
Simons Observatory, within the Llano de Chajnantor Observatory.
The three Simons Array instruments are currently being deployed and
at least one of the three has seen first light.
